How our Austin service actually works

We are based in Frisco and our own vehicles and chauffeurs run out of Dallas Fort Worth. A large share of our Austin work is the run down from the metroplex, which is a trip we quote garage to garage and drive ourselves.

For work that starts and ends inside Austin, we dispatch through operators we have used for years and vetted the same way we vet our own. You book with us, you are billed by us, and our dispatch stays accountable from pickup to drop off. We would rather tell you that up front than have you discover it on the day.

The difference matters most on the weekends that matter. During a race or festival week, a national booking platform is handing your trip to whoever is still available at surge pricing. We are working with people we already have a relationship with, at a rate that was agreed in writing before you travelled.

The run down from Dallas Fort Worth

About three to three and a half hours on I-35, roughly 195 miles, with the Waco stretch and the approach into Austin being where the time actually goes. For a group with luggage this is frequently faster door to door than flying once you count the drive to DFW, two hours before departure, the wait for bags and a rental counter at the other end.

Long distance runs are quoted garage to garage including the empty legs, so the number you see is the number you pay. Larger vehicles are quoted on a mileage rate that moves with fuel, and overnight trips add the chauffeur's hotel and per diem.

City to city transportation

Event weekends

The weekends when Austin runs out of vehicles

Austin has four or five weekends a year when every black car in Central Texas is committed and the rates on the booking apps triple. If your trip falls on one of them, the date you book is more important than anything else on this page.

  • Formula 1 at Circuit of the Americas: The single hardest weekend of the year to book ground transport in Texas. The circuit is southeast of the city off the 130 corridor, the surrounding roads are closed or one way on race day, and general parking is a long walk from the gates. Booked hourly, with a drop and collection point agreed before the weekend.
  • Austin City Limits: Two weekends in October at Zilker Park, with road closures around Barton Springs and MoPac that catch people out every year. Pickup points are set well clear of the park.
  • SXSW: Downtown in March, when the central grid is effectively unusable and everything runs on hourly bookings rather than point to point fares.
  • UT home football weekends: The campus and the roads around DKR fill hours before kickoff.
  • UT graduation and move in: Family groups arriving through ABIA across several flights.
  • Legislative session: Capitol business, committee schedules and a downtown that does not have anywhere to park.

On these weekends, minimums run longer and vehicles commit months out. Book when you buy the tickets, not when you book the hotel.

Concert and event transportation

Airport

Austin-Bergstrom arrivals

ABIA sits southeast of downtown and is usually a short run, fifteen to twenty minutes to a central hotel outside peak. On festival and race weekends that changes completely and the airport approach itself backs up, which is exactly when a confirmed vehicle earns its cost against a surge priced rideshare.

  • Flight tracking on every booking. We adjust to your actual landing time, not the schedule
  • Complimentary wait time: 30 minutes on domestic arrivals, 45 on international, 15 on departures. A rideshare driver waits about five
  • Curbside is standard. Meet and greet inside at baggage claim with a name sign is a $25 add on chosen at booking
  • Airport transfers are always point to point. No hourly minimum, any day, any hour
  • Group collection across several arriving flights, consolidated into one vehicle

Private aviation

FBO arrivals in Austin

Austin has substantial business aviation traffic, and on a race weekend it has a great deal of it. Full service FBOs operate on the ABIA field, with customs available, and there are smaller general aviation options around the city for lighter aircraft.

  • Tail number tracking where the aircraft is trackable. Where it is not, we confirm arrival directly with the FBO front desk
  • Meet and greet is complimentary at FBOs, planeside where the operator allows vehicles on the ramp, otherwise inside the terminal
  • Arrivals are billed hourly with a two hour minimum, because private schedules move. A ninety minute slip should not turn into a dispute over a point to point fare
  • Departures are standard point to point unless wait time runs past 30 minutes, which converts the trip to hourly, at your call and subject to schedule
  • Unmarked sedans and SUVs, NDAs on request
  • On race and festival weekends, ramp access and vehicle staging is tighter than usual. Tell us early and we will confirm what is possible with the operator rather than guessing

Around the city

Where we drop off in Austin

  • Downtown and the Congress Avenue hotels: Corporate work, dinners and the Capitol. Loading zones downtown are tight and enforced, so the drop point is agreed rather than improvised.
  • Rainey Street and East Sixth: Evenings out where nobody in the group should be driving home.
  • The Domain: North Austin corporate, shopping and dining, and a much easier drop than downtown.
  • South Congress: Hotels, dining and the Saturday crowd.
  • Zilker Park and Barton Springs: Festival season, with pickup points set clear of the closures.
  • Hill Country wineries: Driftwood, Dripping Springs and the Fredericksburg run. Booked hourly by definition, because the entire point is that nobody drives.
  • Lake Travis and the resort properties: Weddings, corporate retreats and group days out.

Event and evening trips are booked as a block of time rather than a one way fare. Reserving the block keeps the same vehicle and chauffeur with you, somewhere secure for coats and bags, and a guaranteed ride home at the hour you choose.

Fleet

Your whole group, one vehicle

Sedans for a solo traveller, Escalades for a small team with luggage, Sprinters for corporate groups and winery days, and motorcoaches up to fifty six for conferences and long distance charter. Whatever the headcount, your group travels in one vehicle rather than splitting across several and arriving in pieces.

Sedans and SUVs are unmarked, and we sign nondisclosure agreements on request. Vehicles are assigned by what is closest and available for your date and time.

Why Austin books Goodman

  • We tell you who is driving: Our own fleet on the run down from Dallas Fort Worth, vetted operators we have worked with for years inside the city. Never a spot market bid.
  • Rate agreed in writing before you travel: Which is worth most on exactly the weekends when the apps triple.
  • A person answers: Live dispatch, 24 hours a day. Not an answering service, not a callback queue.
  • Long distance done properly: Quoted garage to garage including the empty legs, so the number you see is the number you pay.
  • One vehicle, whole group: Sedans through 56 passenger motorcoaches, so a party of forty is not split across three vehicles on a road trip.
  • Since 1998: Twenty eight years, family owned and operated, same name the whole time.

Austin questions

Are you actually in Austin, or dispatching from Dallas?

Both, depending on the trip. Runs from Dallas Fort Worth down to Austin are our own vehicles and chauffeurs. Work that starts and ends inside Austin is dispatched through operators we have used and vetted for years. Either way you book with us, you are billed by us, and our dispatch is accountable for the trip. We will tell you which applies to your booking.

How long is the drive from Dallas to Austin?

About three to three and a half hours on I-35, roughly 195 miles. The Waco stretch and the approach into Austin are where the time goes. We quote garage to garage including the empty legs, so a one way trip includes the return leg the vehicle has to drive whether you are in it or not.

Can you do F1 weekend at COTA?

Yes, and it needs booking months ahead. It is the hardest weekend of the year for ground transport in Texas. The circuit is southeast of the city, the roads around it are closed or one way on race day, and general parking is a long walk. We book it hourly with a drop and collection point agreed before the weekend rather than a fare that expires when you are stuck in the exit queue.

Do you run Hill Country winery days?

Yes, and hourly by definition, since the entire point is that nobody drives. Driftwood, Dripping Springs and the Fredericksburg run are the usual circuits. Tell us the headcount and how many stops and we will size the vehicle and the hours honestly rather than under quoting and running over.

What about SXSW and ACL?

Both work, both need early booking, and both run on hourly bookings rather than point to point fares because the closures make a one way trip unpredictable. For ACL we set pickup points well clear of Zilker. For SXSW the downtown grid is effectively unusable, so the vehicle stays with you.

Hourly minimums, deposits and cancellation windows are set out in full on our service terms, and the exact terms for your booking are listed on your signed confirmation.

Check availability for your date

Tell us the date, the pickup, and how many people. You will get a written quote with the vehicle and rate confirmed, with no account to create and no card to enter.
